Kajukenbo is the first Original American born MMA (Mixed Martial Art) from Hawaii in the 1940’s.

“Kajukenbo is a hybrid martial art that combines karate, judo, jiu-jitsu, kenpo, and chinese boxing. It was invented in 1947 in Oahu, Hawaii, at the Palama Settlements, to deal with local crime, and the fast-growing population of a melting pot of immigrants trying to establish territories, as well as to help the people defend themselves from U.S. Navy sailors who would drink and fight with the locals. The inventors were Sijo (”founder”) Adriano Emperado, Peter Young Yil Choo, Joe Holck, Frank Ordonez, and Clarence Chang, who called themselves the Black Belt Society. This martial art uses hard, fast strikes to vital points all over the body, takedowns involving high impact throwdowns and many joint and limb breaking techniques-usually as follow-ups to takedowns. There are also many blocks from attacks such as punches and defenses and disarmament of offensive weapons.”

KA = Karate in the Korean style of Tang Soo Do emphasizes on specialized kicking techniques including hand strikes.

JU - Jiu-Jitsu/Judo. Known for take downs, throws, wrist & joint locks, sweeps, etc.

KEN = Okinawan Kenpo. Consists of fast multiple hand strikes & utilizes a variety of no-nonsense self defense methods of training, such as street situations, preventive child and women abduction situations. The Kenpo system is interpreted as “The Law of the Fist.”

BO = Chinese boxing otherwise known as Chuan Fa which consists of soft style movements of fluidity in the forms of northern & southern regions of Sil Lum Gung Fu.

Western Boxing has especially been incorporated by Founder of GHKI Professor Guila in GHKI fighting systems.

Thai Kick Boxing - Is known especially today to be one of the most effective fighting martial arts methods in the world for both sports competition and self defense utilizing not only hand and feet strikes but knee and elbow strikes as well.
